Case Study - The Only Straw

6 New Orders and 2 Major Proposals

The Challenge

Glen Dawson set out to make a difference in the world for future generations and the environment by
creating The Only Straw. An eco-friendly, biodegradable replacement for plastic straws.
Launched in 2019, he needed to connect with procurement managers and resellers who could distribute
the product.
Because he was new to this type of business, the process was slow and tedious. When COVID-19 hit, it
looked like his mission wasn’t going to be realized.
He had no new sales, no presence on LinkedIn, and less than 75 connections.
In addition, he didn’t have a prospecting or sales process he could rely on to keep his pipeline full.

The Solution
Glen enrolled in our complete LI Lead Generation Program.
First, we discussed the outreach options and decided to create a plan to target straw resellers.
Next, we revamped his LinkedIn profile to reflect his mission and better relate to his target audience.
We showed Glen how to use LinkedIn Sales Navigator to locate, and connect with, his ideal prospective
clients. He was able to immediately make connections and engage with them.
Furthermore, we setup a CRM to keep the prospecting outreach process manageable and capture email
addresses.
Last, we designed a direct messaging sequence to make it easier for him to engage and communicate with
his prospective clients.

The Outcome
Even though COVID-19 is still having an impact on his outreach process, Glen has made 523 LinkedIn
connections in his target industry.
He has received 6 new orders and has 2 proposals in the works. One for a well-known hotel and the other
for a recognized food chain.
His current sales pipeline consists of 475 target clients (procurement managers) and 25 resellers.
